Raymond W. Carter, age 90, of Southport, passed away Monday April 19 in Indianapolis. He was born February 22, 1920 in Edinburgh, IN to James and Elizabeth (Underwood) Carter. He was the owner of Ray Carter''s Grill on Madison Ave. for many years. Ray was a WWII Army veteran and was a S Sgt. in the 2nd Armored Division that crossed the Rhine River. He married Lois Mitchell and she preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his son Daniel Carter in 2004. Ray was a fanatic Yankee fan, avid Card Player, Gardener, Hunter and Fisherman. He is survived by his sons William (Mary), and Timothy Carter; daughter, Susan Carter; granddaughters, Cassandra (Chad) Lanahan and Amy (Jon Radford) Carter; and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 22, at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with visitation from 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
