Rebecca Mae
Marshall
Jun 26, 1934 — Sep 6, 2026
New Palestine
Celebrating the Life of Rebecca Mae Marshall.
Rebecca Mae Marshall of New Palestine went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the wonderful age of 92. And if 92 years teaches you anything, it’s that a good life isn’t measured simply in years—it’s measured in the people you love, the places you go, the memories you make, and, in Rebecca’s case, probably a few successful shopping trips along the way.
Rebecca was born June 26, 1934, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Isaac Hathaway Winchester and Ethel Beatrice (Johnson) Winchester. A graduate of Clarksville High School, Rebecca eventually built a career with Marsh Supermarkets, where she worked as an office manager for 20 years before deciding she had officially earned the right to retire and spend more time doing the things she enjoyed.
Rebecca was a woman of faith and a member of Deliverance Tabernacle in Indianapolis. She had also been a member of the Eastern Star. Her faith was important to her, but so was the way she treated people. Rebecca had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a hand, help someone in need, or simply be there when her family and friends needed her.
And Rebecca loved to shop. For her, shopping wasn’t just an errand—it was something to enjoy. She also loved traveling, vacations, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. Some of her happiest memories were made with the people she loved, whether they were headed somewhere special or simply enjoying life together.
One title Rebecca carried with tremendous pride was being a military wife. She was incredibly proud of her husband, Kenneth Eugene Marshall, and the life they built together. After many years apart, Rebecca will now be laid to rest beside Kenneth.
Rebecca leaves behind a family that was truly the center of her world: her children, Kimberly Marshall, David Grafe, Donald (Denise) Grafe and Donna Stewart; her grandchildren, Jonathan (Ashley) Kindred, Nick (Vivian) Grafe, Nikki (Matt) Lord, and Christopher “Chip” (Lia) Douglas; and her great-grandchildren, Ruger, Brayden, Amyla, Lincoln and Stephanie. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Rector, along with her nieces and nephews.
Rebecca was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, Kenneth Eugene Marshall, as well as her siblings, Sue, Roger, Philip and Elize.
At 92, Rebecca leaves behind far more than names and dates. She leaves behind stories, vacations, laughter, family traditions, shopping adventures and generations of people who knew they were loved. Those are the things that made Rebecca who she was—and those are the things her family will carry forward.
Funeral services celebrating Rebecca’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, with Damon Collins officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of service.
Rebecca will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Ninety-two years. A big family. A life of faith, travel, giving, shopping and loving her people. Rebecca lived a life worth celebrating—and she certainly left everyone plenty of stories to keep telling.
