Richard M. Hardin, age 76, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at his home with his loved ones at his side on February 29, 2016. Richard was born July 28, 1939 in Franklin to Omer H. and Edith L. (Marshall) Hardin. He was a graduate of Nineveh High School with the Class of 1957. He was an Inspection Department Supervisor at Allison for 28 years. Richard was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was an avid fisherman, and mushroom hunter. He loved woodworking and reading. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a true Indianapolis Colts fan and cheered for I.U. He was a member of American Legion Post #205, and the Humane Society of Johnson Co. Richard was loved and respected by many and will be missed by all who know and love him.
Richard married Iris E. Watkins in January 1963 in Tennessee and she preceded him in death on December 14, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Jim Burgett. Richard is survived by his daughters, Lora Bledsoe of Bargersville, Lisa Hardin of Indianapolis and Angie Hightower, of Franklin; grandsons, Justin, Ryan and Kyle Bledsoe, and Brandon and Zach Hightower; great grandsons Joseph and Ryan Bledsoe; longtime companion, Chyrl Bueche; sister, Pat Burgett; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the Donor''s Choice.
