Richard L. Smith, Bargersville, IN, passed away on the early morning of Saturday, December 13, 2025. He was 76 years old. Richard was born in Las Cruces, NM, to his parents, CF and Frances Smith. Richard married his wife, Patty (Lovelace), on June 15, 1973, and they shared 52 years of marriage together.
Richard proudly served his community as a police officer for the Bargersville Police Department for eleven devoted years. During his time on the force, Richard was a member of the F.O.P. Richard was also a member of the Franklin, IN, Elks club as well as the National Street Rod Association. During his free time, Richard enjoyed attending car shows to display his 1923 T-Bucket automobile. He was a second amendment enthusiast and was known to enjoy fishing and riding motorcycles. In the winters, Richard enjoyed living in Florida with his wife to escape the harsh Indiana weather. Richard will be remembered for his special sense of humor, blunt personality, and his love for his family. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patty Smith; his children, David (Tammy) Smith, Amanda (Scott) Domres, and Stacey Smith; his 6 grandchildren; his 5 great grandchildren; his sister, Sharron Alexandersmith; his several nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his sibling, Joe Smith, Jim Smith, and Judy Labadie.
