Mrs. Rita Rosemary 'Rosie' Hertweck, Indianapolis, passed away on the late afternoon of Friday, January 21, 2022. She was 98. Rosie was born August 30, 1923 in Mount Carmel, Illinois, a daughter of the late Earl and Flotie Edna (Hill) Simmons.
Rosie attended Arsenal Technical High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1941. She had been employed in the Administration Offices at Indiana University in Bloomington and retired after 25 years of service. She, along with her husband, enjoyed antiquing and had owned their own antique store for several years. She also enjoyed traveling which led her to visit many areas of the country including Hawaii as well as Canada. She even drove herself to visit friends in Canada alone at the age of 90. Rosie also enjoyed an occasional visit to the casino.
Rosie is survived by her nephews, Larry Norris, Sr., Daniel (Sandy) Norris and her niece, Helen Flake.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Keith Hertweck; a stepson, Ted Hertweck; as well as her siblings, Doris Norris, Richard Simmons and Johnny Simmons.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, January 28, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Steve Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
