Robert John Biggs, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away January 4, 2014. The son of Cyrus and Nannie Severin Biggs, Robert was born October 19, 1919 in Evansville, Indiana.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during WW II, earning the EAME Theater Ribbon with 6 Bronze Stars, Bronze Service Arrowhead and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Indianapolis Fire Department in 1981 after 33 years, serving primarily at Station 13. He is a past president of the Firefighter's Retirement Club and was a member of Center United Methodist Church.

Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Esther F. Nickum Biggs of Indianapolis; sons, Robert A. Biggs of Indianapolis and John E. (Donna) Biggs of Owensboro, Kentucky; daughter, Patricia L. (James) Slaymon of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Malcom and Francis Biggs and sisters, Mary Biggs and Hazel Daly.

Funeral services 1:00 p.m. January 10, 2014 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. January 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
