Obituary

Robert Wayne Israel peacefully passed away to his eternal home in Heaven on Friday, November 4, 2016 just shy of his 90th birthday.

He married Marie (Yates) Israel on June 22, 1947 and she survives. They had a "Love For A Lifetime" marriage. Robert "Bob", was born February 3, 1927 in Clinton County, IN to the late James H. Israel and Leota M. (Heffley) Israel.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, W. John Israel and his grandson, Trevor A. Israel.

He is survived by sister, Elsie Carlin, Anderson, IN; three brothers: Eugene "Gene" (Phyllis), Ocala, FL; Donald (Pat), Shell Lake, WI; Larry (Linda), Columbus, OH; his son, Lloyd (Joan), Eustis, FL and his daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Dennis E.) Hornocker, Fairland, IN; two granddaughters, Christy (Chad) Bowen and Candy (Rob) Feeser; great grandchildren by age; Emily Bowen, Asia Feeser, Sam Bowen and Hailey Feeser and many nieces and nephews.

Bob served in the Navy as a Fireman aboard a Destroyer (U.S.S. Renshaw DD499) during World War II. He was honorably discharged July 18, 1946. He was a long time member of Fairland Christian Church, Fairland, IN. He retired from Insurance Brokers of Indiana in Greenwood, IN as a co-owner. Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever" (KJV)

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7 from 4 pm - 8 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood 46143. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 10:30 am, also in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Pastor Leslie R. Bearden officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff of Franciscan Hospice House, Indianapolis; for their dedicated and compassionate care given to our loved one.
