Robert Arthur Gerlach was born to the late Virgil and Marie Gerlach in Logansport, Indiana on October 10, 1942. He graduated from Lucerne High School in 1960, attended Indiana Business College and worked 48 years as a retail and wholesale meat specialist. He was an employee of Scot Lad Foods, Mr. D's Food Markets, and SuperValu, where he worked with stores throughout Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
Bob was married to Norma Jean Belcher on September 15, 1963 in Logansport. They raised their family of three children in Monticello, Indiana and later in Greenwood, Indiana. He married Mary Ellen Kuonen (Frey) in Greenwood, September 24, 2011. Bob was a member of Southland Community Church in Greenwood and Martinsville Community Band. He was active with his wife Mary as a facilitator of GriefShare at Southland after retirement.
Bob loved reading, writing, music and was interested in bible studies and politics. He was a Pacers and Colts fan and enjoyed gardening. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. Bob was very outgoing and had a lasting impact on the lives of many. His warm smile and hearty laughter will be missed by many.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; his son David (Rebecca) of Franklin; his two daughters Karen Phillips (Doug) of Nebraska and Janine Shopp (Brent) of Fishers; his grandchildren, Matthew Gerlach, Thomas Bleemel (Wendy), William Bleemel (Kayla), Jalynn Smith, Jeanna Salmon (Brittin), BethAnn Bleemel, Sydney Shopp and Delaney Shopp; his brother Dean Gerlach (Sandy), Lucerne; and his sister Joyce Sherril (Ralph), Logansport. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his son-in-law Bob Bleemel; his brother Thomas and his sister, Barbara Linback, Logansport; and his parents.
