IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Leroy Mcgurer
February 21, 1950 – March 3, 2026
Robert Leroy "Bob" McGurer, was born February 21, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN, went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2026. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he worked for many years as a skilled machinist before later retiring from the Department of Revenue. He took great pride in working with his hands and had a lifelong love of woodworking. Over the years, he crafted many beautiful pieces, including lamps, tables, rocking horses, and picture frames—many of which are treasured by family and friends.
Bob loved God, his family, and his country. He was a faithful member of the Spearsville Church of Christ. And he was so appreciative of his church family who took time out of their day to help him with projects around the house. He had a passion for building detailed model airplanes and ships from various wars, a hobby that brought him great joy. Some of his favorite moments were spent simply riding around on his golf cart, often with his grandkids taking turns driving around the yard. He also enjoyed watching the wildlife outside his window—birds, deer, squirrels, and neighborhood cats—always making sure they were cared for.
Known for his sense of humor, Bob loved making people laugh. He had stories and jokes for days. His grandchildren loved when he would talk to them in his playful "JoJo" voice. His daughters and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He often expressed how proud he was of them and never failed to tell those he loved, "I love you." He often shared that he never believed he could find a second love like the one he had with Carolene, but he was blessed to find that love again with Teresa.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Teresa McGurer, whom he married April 4, 2009. He is also survived by his daughter Donna (Scott) Bryant; grandsons Andrew (Eva) Bryant, Jake (Stephanie) Bryant, and Regan Fermenick; and great-grandchildren Donovan Fermenick, Sophia Bryant, and Ella Bryant.
He is also survived by his sisters Sandy Vickery and Iona (Mike) Jackson, and his brothers Leslie (Pat) McGurer and Bill McGurer, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Bob also leaves behind his cherished bonus family: Rick (Leanne) Clark and Tracy (Henry) Taylor, along with bonus grandchildren Nathan, Morgan and Mei Clark and Brittany and Josh Taylor. Great bonus grandchildren Nahla Clark and William Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his first love, Carolene; his beautiful daughter and fishing buddy, Terena Fermenick, son-in-law Don Fermenick; his parents, Leslie and Jean (Bornman) McGurer; brother, Ted McGurer.
Bob's legacy of kindness, humor, faith, and love for his family will live on in the many lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now reunited with loved ones and resting in the presence of the Lord.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. - Revelation 21:4
