Robert Alois Naessens, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Robert was born on May 21, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late Robert Albert and Irene Maria (Andries) Naessens. He married his love Geraldine Martin on September 6, 1958.
Robert served his country proud for 21 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1976. Robert loved the Chicago area sports teams: Cubs & Bears, as well as the Indianapolis Indians. He enjoyed fishing and volunteering in taking ill children to the Shriner''s Hospital for their care. Most importantly, Robert enjoyed being a husband, father, and grandfather.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Jeri of 53 years; their children: Robert Anthony Naessens, David Allen Naessens, Jacquelyn Maria Cullom (Mark), and Lisa Angel Bell (Robbie); 9 grandchildren: Wendy, Michelle, David, Mark, Aaron, Lee, Wyatt, Alec, and Gunner; and 3 great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister Geraldine Matozzi. Visitation will be on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Full military honors will be afforded to Robert at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children by calling 800-241-GIFT.
