Mr. Robert Gene 'Bob' Peats, Indianapolis, passed away
on the early morning of Saturday, May 28, 2022 after a courageous battle with
cancer. He was 74. Bob was born June 25, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana,
a son of the late Harry Francis and Betty (Spencer) Peats.
Bob attended Emmerich Manual
High School in Indianapolis and was a member of the
graduating Class of 1965. After his graduation, Bob honorably and faithfully
served his country in the United States Air Force.
Bob had been employed with
Indiana Bell Telephone Company in management and served there for 20 years
before retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was a
man with a huge heart. He was a giver in every sense of the word. He was a
handyman who could repair and fix almost anything and he shared those talents with
everyone who knew him. There was nothing he couldn't do and he helped all who
asked.
Bob enjoyed golf and horse
racing and was known to have placed a few good bets in his day. He also enjoyed
traveling with this family, especially to the British Isles and Hawaii. He will be remembered
for the annual family vacations to Florida
and Disney World which he eagerly looked forward to.
Bob spent much of his leisure
time outdoors, caring for his flowers and vegetable gardens. He deeply loved
his family, especially his grandchildren and the time they all spent together.
Bob always enjoyed a good meal and particularly enjoyed it if it included his
favorite…fried chicken!
Bob is survived by his loving
wife, Patricia 'Patti' (McCarthy) Peats; his son, Matthew (Katie) Peats; his
grandchildren, Sam, Maggie, Ian, Luke and Brigid; his siblings, Michael (Kay)
Peats and Cheryl Lowden; his niece, Monica (Brad) Cantrell and a nephew, Cory
Lowden.
He is preceded in passing by
his parents.
For those choosing to make a
memorial contribution in Bob's memory, the family has suggested those be
offered to any local VFW organization.
A Memorial Mass will be
