Robert E. Sampson, 78 of New Whiteland, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his residence. Born August 6, 1930 in Marion County, he was the son of Rex and Bernice M. (Banister) Sampson. On August 12, 1949, he married Juanita L. Short and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
He had retired as a Journeyman Plumber with the Local 440 Pipefitters Union and he was a member of the Whiteland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Bob loved to play guitar, canvas painting, working on antique cars and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife Juanita, one son, Bobby (Ruth) Sampson; three daughters, Cynthia Pinkston, Theresa (Frank) Paris and Evelyn (Willie) Pinkston; two brothers, Rex (Barbara) Sampson and Tim Sampson. Bob had 24 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tom and one sister, Grace Pooler.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday May, 27th at 10:00am with calling 1 hour prior at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorials can be made to the Whiteland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
