Robert D. Summers, 68, of Greenwood passed away June 1, 2015 at his residence. Born August 22, 1946 in Epson, Indiana, he was the son of the late Gerald and Wilma (Andis) Summers. On July 30, 1966, he married Naomi Kaiser in Burns City, Indiana. He worked as a millwright for NAVSTAR in Indianapolis, IN for thirty nine years, retiring in 2010. He was a 1964 graduate of Elnora, IN high school. Robert was a member of Glenns Valley United Methodist Church and American Legion Post# 252, Greenwood. Robert, along with his wife, has hosted sixteen foreign exchange students. He is survived by his wife, Naomi; son, John (Amy) Summers; daughter, Becky (Mike) Burgess; a brother, Randy Summers; two sisters, Maudie Harper and Hyla Hughes; two grandchildren, Lauren and Baron Burgess. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roger Summers and a sister, Nyla Holbert. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South S.R. 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Friends may call Friday June 5, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
