Robert D. Vaughn, PhD, age 80, of Portland, OR passed away recently. Bob was born March 3, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late John D. and Ruby D. Vaughn. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry. Bob earned his Bachelor''s degree from Purdue University in 1951 and his Master''s and PhD from the University of Delaware. All degrees were in Chemical Engineering. Bob was listed in the 1989-1990 editions of the American Men and Women of Science. He worked for several different chemical companies during his employment years, retiring from Exxon Chemical in 1985. From 1985 until 2001, he was a consultant in Chemical Eng. He was also an Associate Professor of Chemical Eng. at Purdue from 1960-1964. Bob was a world traveler and also enjoyed opera, classical music and other cultural events. He is survived by his daughter, Ellen (Scott) Robinson, of Zionsville, IN; sons, Matthew, of Orlando, FL, Brian, of Howell, MI. Neil, of Norwalk, CA, and Keith (Leigh), of Dexter, MI; sister, Marjorie Vaughn, of Greenwood, IN; seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
