Roberta Kay Needham, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026. She was 79 years old. Kay was born in Greensburg, IN, to her parents, Hurley and Stella Carter. Kay graduated from Beech Grove High School, class of 1965. Later, Kay graduated from IUPUI, where she earned a bachelor's degree in computer programming.

Kay worked as a computer programmer for many years before her well-earned retirement. She had a very developed mind and was extremely smart, but prioritized a humble demeanor at all times. Kay enjoyed exercising; she liked to go for long walks and bike rides. Kay was a wonderful cook and always found ways to prepare healthy meals for her family to enjoy. She was also known to enjoy a cookie here or there as a sweet treat. Kay enjoyed spending her free time listening to NPR and travelling the world; some of her most notable adventures took her to Paris, France and the Grand Canyon. Kay loved to spend her days watching her beloved youngest grandson, Grant, and she enjoyed any opportunity she had to spend time with her older grandchildren, Gema and Gavin. Kay was very family-oriented and took every opportunity to spend time with her sisters, nieces, nephews, and son. Kay will be remembered for her big-hearted nature and as a wonderful Grandma. Kay will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those she leaves behind.

Kay is survived by her son, Jerry (Andie) Needham; her grandchildren, Grant Needham, Gema Geisking, and Gavin Geisking; her sisters, Pat Harris, Joann (Dan) Smith and Cheryl (Steve) Wisdom; her several nieces and nephews; her several great nieces and great nephews.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents.

Kay will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at a later date.
