Obituary

Rodney Thomas Wethington, 65, of Fortville passed away Tuesday, October 13 in his home surrounded with the love of his family.  He was born November 13, 1954 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late Gene and Joyce (Belton) Wethington.

Rod married his love, Debbie (Johnson) Wethington, on October 12, 1973 and just celebrated 47 years together.  He is the father of two children, and Papaw of three grandchildren.  Rod loved life and lived to the fullest.  He worked hard to support his family first and then played hard in his off hours.  "Red" could be found at the Fallen Timbers campground in Brookville, Indiana most weekends.  Before his stroke in 2006, he was often out on the water with a rod and reel fishing.  He was always willing to come help out whenever anyone needed anything at all.  Although he was the most stubborn man ever born, he was also warm and caring.  He had a great sense of humor, a crazy love of fireworks, and always had a Marlboro Red in his hand.  He loved his family fiercely.  We love you and miss you, Red, we'll all have a beer in your memory.

Rod will be fondly remembered by his wife, Debbie; children, Shane (Ellie) Wethington, and Shanna (Ryan) Russell; grandchildren, Blake, Jayden, and Kiefer; siblings, Renaye (Gene) Baker, Jeannie (Bill) Decker, Elaine (Bill) Ogle, Dwaine (Judy) Wethington, Donna (Roger) Marcum, and brother-in-law, Stan Walden; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Rod was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Walden.

A celebration of life will be held October 31, 2020 from 12:00pm - 3:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143, with a short service of remembrance to follow at 3:00pm.  Come join us as we celebration Red's life!  Wear your favorite jeans and plaid shirt.  Bring your favorite Red story to share.  Remember him in laughter.
