Mr. Ronald Paul Hotz, Indianapolis, passed away on the late morning of Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Francisican Health - Indianapolis. He was 84. Ron was born November 25, 1938 in Loogootee, Indiana, the son of the late Paul and Wilma (Ennis) Hotz.
Ron attended Loogootee High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1956. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted and honorably served in the United States Army until his discharge in 1959. He served as a code interceptor while in Korea.
Ron moved to Indianapolis for employment and eventually retired as a sales representative for Yellow Freight Systems after over 30 years of service. He loved all sports, particularly auto racing, fishing, boating and golf. He golfed with the same guys for over 40 years - Bill Geiger, Bill Berry and Bobby Hillan.
Ronald was a 50-year member of Englewood Lodge No. 715, F&AM. Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis as well as the Murat Shrine. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Ron and his wife were part-time residents of Grand Island, Florida from 1998 until 2021.
Ron is survived by his two best girls: his wife of 62 years, Dorothy 'Dottie' Hotz and his beautiful and loving daughter, Holly Hotz.
He is preceded in passing by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. Englewood Lodge No. 715 F&AM will also conduct a Masonic Memorial Service at 12:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. He will be inurned at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.
