Mr. Ronald Arvil McClure, New Whiteland, passed away on the early morning of Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was 79. Ron was born October 23, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late James Edward and Lillian Mae (Wilson) McClure.
A proud veteran, Ron honorably served his country in the United States Army and had been employed as a forklift mechanic for both Yale and Rand-McNally for several years. Ron attended the Greenwood Bible Baptist Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He enjoyed fishing and camping especially while on fishing trips to Canada with friends. Ron was a train enthusiast and also built cannons. He spent much of his spare time woodworking, gardening and watching WWE wrestling. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially Bluegrass and country.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Regina M. (Provo) McClure; his children, Tina (James) Cook, Debra Matatt and Ronald J. McClure; his grandchildren, Shane (Tiffany) Palmer, Justin (Kendra Carter) Palmer, Jessica (Matt) Clark, Jacob Matatt, Jamie Matatt, Armani Monroe, Destiny McClure, Dakota McClure and Daley McClure; his great-grandchildren, Landon Carter, Dalton Palmer, Braxton Palmer, Carson Palmer, Gracelyn Palmer, Saydee Palmer, Avery Clark and Madelyn Clark; his sisters, Ruth White and Rebecca Smith as well as two nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by a granddaughter, Brenna Carter and a brother, Rodney Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
