Ronald R. Miller, age 83, of Greenwood, formerly of Crawfordsville and Martinsville, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, March 6, 2017. Ron was born in the area known as Goose Nibble in Crawfordsville on July 14, 1933 to Vern and Mabel (Ellington) Miller. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School with the Class of 1951 where he placed 2nd in the state in wrestling . He was also a graduate of Purdue University with an A.S. degree in Industrial Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army, 16th Recon Co., 1st Cavalry Division as a Tank Driver in Japan and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Expert Marksmanship Badge (M-1). Ron worked at Union Carbide for 21 years and retired. He later worked as the Supervisor of Grounds and Maintenance for the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville for 11 years. Ron was an avid golfer and former Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #1349 in Martinsville. He was much loved and will be missed by all who know him.
Ron married the love of his life, Janice Faye Keller on September 2, 1956 in Crawfordsville and she survives him along with their son, Ronald R. Miller, II and his wife, Terry of Martinsville; daughter, Jacque C. Miller of New Bern, NC; granddaughter, Rachel Miller of Howell, MI and Gabrielle Miller and husband, Brandon Woodcox, of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
