Ronald D. "Ron" Macy, 56, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away July 7, 2013. Ron was born March 6, 1957 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia to Rex H. and Frances (Selby) Macy.

He was a 1975 graduate of Southport High School. He attended IUPUI and Butler University. Ron was a career firefighter, who served the city of Franklin, Indiana for twenty eight years and retired as a captain. In 1985 Ron was injured when a rooftop collapsed while fighting the Old Main fire on the campus of Franklin College. Ron was one of two firefighters who earned the Advanced EMT certification. As a result of his leadership, the Franklin Fire Department became an Advanced Life Support Service. He was also the first to resuscitate a full cardiac arrest victim using the citiy's first defibrillator. Ron''s antics and sense of humor brought many great times to the men of the Franklin Fire Department, and a lifetime of stories and memories.

Survivors include his mother, Frances F. Macy; two daughters, Mellisa (Buddy) Terry and Hannah Macy; two granddaughters, Makaley and Makenzy Terry; a brother, Rex H. Macy Jr.; two half brothers, Renner and Rex Lee Corbin. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
