Obituary

Rosaline Nichols, Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025. She was 79 years old. Rosaline was born in Manchester, England to her parents James John McHugh and Hilda Melbye. She graduated from Howe High School. Rosaline married her husband, William Nichols, and they shared fifty years of marriage together until William passed away on January 15, 2014.
Rosaline worked in customer service for AT&T for several years and officially retired after her dedicated years of service.  Rosaline enjoyed going bowling with her girlfriends and taking long drives with her husband. Rosaline was known to also enjoy fishing and trying her luck at the casino slot machines. She had many interesting travels during her life including to one of her favorite places, Las Vegas. Fashion, cosmetics, and jewelry remained steady interests of hers throughout her life. Rosaline had a spitfire personality and vibrant energy that left a lasting mark on the hearts of her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by the family she leaves behind.
Rosaline is survived by her sister, Marie (Terry) Johnson; her neice; Ashley Johnson; her nephew, Matthew (Jenna) Johnson; many more nieces and nephews; her great nieces, Remi, Maddie, and Mikayla.
Rosaline is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Robert Melbye; her husband, William.
A visitation for Rosaline will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The funeral service will be on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
