Obituary

Mr. Roscoe Kenneth 'Ken' Pitman, Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Monday, May 12, 2025. He was 78 years old. Ken was born September 18, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late Arthur Pitman and Edith M. (Catobius) Farmer.

Ken attended Emmerich Manual High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1967. After high school, Ken honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Ken was employed at Allison Engine division of General Motors where he devoted 20 years and afterwards was employed at Rolls Royce North America from where he retired in 2003 after 15 additional years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local 933 as well as the Union Village Lodge No. 545 F&AM in Providence, Indiana.

Ken married the love of his life, Deena, 44 years ago. He loved spending time with his wife and their pets Brodie, Miss Kitty, HoBo, Piper and most recently Coal. He was an avid fisherman and loved being an uncle. He enjoyed fishing bass tournaments and loved taking his nieces and nephews boating, tubing and skiing or on day trips throughout the city. Roscoe (Ken) was a trap shooting competitor, enjoyed playing on bowling leagues and poker.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Pitman and his mother, Edith Farmer. He is survived by his wife Deena (Henderson) Pitman; his special cousin, Kellis Pitman as well as several other beloved cousins; his mother-in-law, Bernese Henderson; sisters-in-law, Christy Giroux and Laura (John) Robinson; a brother-in-law, Aaron (Terri) Henderson, Sr.; his nieces, Tiffany Henderson, Katie Powell, Nichole Berni and his nephews, Matthew Wuensch, Aaron Henderson, Jr., James Robinson and Jeremiah Robinson.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A short Committal Service for the  family will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
