Mrs. Rose Anna Vernon passed away on the morning of Wednesday, December 15, 2021. She was 98. Rose was born September 27, 1923 in Bedford Indiana, a daughter of the late Jack and Lillian Bell (Cottrell) Love.

Rose was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and had been employed with Standard Grocery for 19 years as a cashier, retiring in 1985.

In her spare time, Rose enjoyed bowling and was a member of the WIBC and UFCW, playing bingo, playing cards, as well as watching game shows on television. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed listening to country music. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. She loved being around people and never met a stranger. Rose was also loved dogs. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church in Bedford.

Rose is survived by her children Ricky Vernon, Gigi Vernon and Holly Lambert-Vernon; Her grandchildren, Eddie (Pam) Smith, Robbie (Donna) Smith, Shawn (Christine) Vernon, Danny (Neka) Vernon, Richard (Andrea) Lambert and Kayla Vernon; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Ramsey and Martha Vernon as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in passing by her husband of 54 years, James Sylvester Vernon, her sons, Jimmy Vernon and Larry (Pat) Vernon; her grandchildren, Ricky Vernon Jr. and Marie (Greg) Stone and a brother, George Bartley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with her grandson, Danny Vernon, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
