Ruth Yvonne (Goss) Sims Shannon, 90, of Greenwood passed away Tuesday evening, February 18, 2020 surrounded by her family.  Ruth was born in Cincinnati, Ohio July 6, 1929 to Frank and Eva Goss.

Ruth was a homemaker, raising her children with her husband Joseph, until they were grown. She then went to work for the State of Indiana managing the custodial department.  Ruth was very crafty and enjoyed repurposing jewelry, sewing and painting murals on the walls of her home for the children.  She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her chocolate fudge.  And she couldn't resist a trip to her favorite White Castle, where all the employees knew her as "Grandma".  Ruth was also a very active member of Charity Tabernacle in Indianapolis.  Ruth fought the good fight here on earth and is finally able to rest.  She will be greatly missed.

Ruth is survived by her children, Melvin (Vickie) Sims, Gregg (Wendy) Sims, and Rheadawn McCarney; grandchildren, Tanyika, Tawana, Michonne, Tommy, Talitha, Shaelyn, Niki, Danielle, and Billie Jo; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother Ronnie; and sisters, Joanne and Sharon.

Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Tyrone; and 4 of her siblings.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Charity Tabernacle, 2700 S. Tibbs Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46241.  Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m.
