Samuel George Helber, age 55, of Mooresville, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 with his loving family at his side. He was born October 31, 1957 in Riverside, CA to Robert A. and Bonnie Lee (Peterson) Helber. George was a Truck Driver for many years for Land Air and other companies. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran and was an avid Colts, Pacers and I.U. fan. He kept a foam brick that was given to him as a gift and he would throw it at the TV when he was watching his sports. He also loved NASCAR and playing the guitar.
George is survived by his loving wife, the former Zia Ann Thomas, whom he married on July 15, 1977 at 29 Palms, CA. He is also survived by his sons, David (Theresa) Thomas of Beech Grove, and Michael (Sabrina) Helber of Indianapolis; daughter, Catina Helber Myers of Indianapolis; brothers, Robert (Sheryl) Helber of Pendleton, Charles (Jane) Helber of Clermont, Jack (Nina) Whiteman of TN, Paul Whiteman, Jr. of Indianapolis; sister, Pamela (Jerry) Pruitt of Martinsville; grandchildren, Jayden Thomas, Destiny Sherrill, and Michael, Nicholas, and Blake Helber; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
