Samuel Keith Penix, 84, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Sam was born on September 13, 1926 in Muelshoe, TX to the late Charles Lafayette and Agnes (Headley) Penix. Sam served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1946. He later married his love Niccola DeVore on February 23, 1965 in El Paso, TX.
Sam was a tremendously loving husband and father and will be sadly missed. Sam worked 17 years with Grand Auto in CA. He then owned and operated Economical Auto Repair in Indianapolis from 1983-1989. Sam had great faith in God and was a member of Beech Grove Wesleyan Church.
Sam is survived by his loving wife Nickie of 46 years; their children: Allen Louis; Peggy Ann; and Sam Penix (Christine); 11 grandchildren: Cherie, Renee, Jonathan, Wendy, Samuel IV, Michael A., Elizabeth J.N., Courtney M., Brittney M., Stephanie M., and Kenneth A.; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Laverne Smith (friend Charlie); niece Rebecca and nephew Danny.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Gayetta Lynn EwBank; 5 brothers; a brother-in-law; and a sister.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Carpenter officiating.
