Indianapolis:
Sarah Lois Groves, 86, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012. Lois was a residence of Rosegate Village in Indianapolis. She was born on June 21, 1925 in Clark Township, Johnson County, to the late Paul V. and Gladys L. (McClain) Burgett.
Lois was a lifelong member of Rocklane Christian Church where she was the church pianist and organist in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. She was a graduate of Clark High School where she was active in the band and also 4-H. At one time she contributed community news articles to the Johnson County News in Greenwood. She held membership in the Greenwood Eastern Star. She retired after 23 years as a Commercial Underwriter for Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Upon retirement Lois spent 20 years wintering at Camper Village in FL until her health forced her into care at Rosegate.
Lois is survived by 6 grandchildren: David Breedlove (Lori) of Oklahoma City, OK, Kathy Sagarsee (Andy) of Indianapolis, Traci Noel (Tim) of Shelbyville, Eric Breedlove (Karen) of Indianapolis, Jessica Douglas (William) of Delpre, OH, and Marcus Breedlove (Brittany) of Greenfield; 11 great-grandchildren: Emily Breedlove, Brian Sagarsee, David, Makayla, Sara, and Jessica Noel, Dustin & Mathew Breedlove, Nathaniel Wigal, and August & Sophia Breedlove; 2 step-great-grandchildren: C.J. and Betheny Hatcher; and brother James A. Burgett (Sue).
August 3, 1943, Lois married Homer K. Breedlove. He passed away in 1986. She then married Harold R. Groves in 1991. He also preceded Lois in passing. Lois was also preceded in death by her 4 children: Sue Ellen, David, Daniel, and Mike Breedlove; brother Paul E. Burgett; and sister Ruth Ann Kamstra.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Keaton officiating. Lois would welcome memorial contributions may be made to Rocklane Christian Church Building Fund.
