Sarah "Sally" Kay Gant, Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was 85 years old. Sally was born in Martinsville, IN to her parents Frank and Sarah Stephens. In her youth, Sally always enjoyed climbing trees and taking long walks with her friends and family. Sally married her husband, Robert Gant, on June 13, 1958, and they shared 63 years of marriage together until Robert passed away in 2022.
Sally worked several jobs during her life to help support her family. She worked for Greenwood and Indianapolis School Systems; she worked as a nursing assistant; and most recently, she worked as a warehouse worker for Harmon Motive for twenty years before she began her well-earned retirement. Sally was a lifelong woman of faith and a fierce believer in Jesus; she lived in a godly way and set a wonderful example for her family. Sally enjoyed gardening in her gorgeous flower bed, going camping, taking long car rides (especially in the autumn to see the fall colors and old barns), and going out to eat. Sally also loved to go to auctions to shop with her family. She was a people-person who never met a stranger and strived to always treat others with kindness. Sally loved her family and looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with them. Sally will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Sally was loved by her children, Debora (Marty) Hyatt, Bob (Honey) Gant, Brenda (Brian) Harper, Darcy (Bill) McDonough, and Frank (Teresa) Gant; her several grandchildren; her several great grandchildren; her one great great grandchild; her half-sister, Bonnie Smith; her several nieces and nephews.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Gant; her great grandchild, Andrew Mulder; her several siblings.
A visitation for Sally will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:30 pm.
