Mrs. Sharon Josephine Banks, Greenwood, went home to be with the Lord on the early afternoon of Wednesday, December 31, 2025. She was 83 years old.
Sharon was born November 29, 1942, in Blue Ash, Ohio, a daughter of the late George Levan and Beulah Mae (Cope) Renner. She attended Southport High School and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1961. Sharon devoted 17 years of her professional life as a technical writer, designing jet engines with Rolls-Royce Corporation, where she was known for her diligence and attention to detail.
Sharon had a deep love for all things Christmas and Hallmark. She was an exceptional cook, well known for her candied yams, banana split cake, and cheeseballs, and she especially cherished making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren. She delighted in singing and dancing, couponing and shopping, and enjoyed collecting peacocks, dolls, figurines, and Hallmark ornaments. Sharon had a fondness for the color turquoise and everything associated with it.
She enjoyed taking walks and vacations with her husband and attending southern gospel concerts together. Sharon also took great joy in caring for her beloved former pets, Angus and Joe.
A woman of strong faith, Sharon was a devoted member of GracePoint Church in Whiteland, where she sang in the choir and participated in the Ladies Bible Study group. Above all else, Sharon deeply loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Ron Banks; her children, Kristine Parry, Todd Jackson and his wife Kristin Spurkland, Jason Jackson, and Amy Jackson; her grandchildren, Courtney, Breanna, and Beck; her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Sawyer, and Adelynn; her sister, Shirley (David) LeMaster; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her grandson, Caleb Parry, and her siblings, Sherman Renner, Gary Renner, Carol King, and George Renner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in the chapel of GracePoint Church, 330 West Whiteland Road, Whiteland, Indiana. Pastor Stan Glover will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Sharon's memory, the family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to GracePoint Church.
