Sharon Louise (McGee) Stinson was born on February 11, 1931, in Evansville, Indiana. Her parents were Richard Lawrence McGee of Louisville, Kentucky and Maude Lucille (Huston) McGee, of Enfield, Illinois. Mrs. Stinson attended Evansville Public Schools and graduated from Bosse High School in 1949; she majored in Home Economics at Indiana University, later transferring to Evansville College. She and Gerald Edmond Stinson were married in Evansville on June 8, 1952, and are the parents of four surviving children: Dee S. Owens, Bloomington; Bruce I. Stinson, New Whiteland; Dayne R. Stinson, Bargersville; and Holly L. Osborne, Trafalgar.
Mrs. Stinson worked as a bookkeeper for 35 years, retiring from the IU School of Dentistry in Indianapolis in 1996. She enjoyed good meals, time with her family, travel and her circle of friends. She celebrated 28 years of sobriety in 2014 and was very proud of her achievement in health.
She is survived by her former husband, Gerald E. Stinson, of Naples, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Benjamin (April) Priest, Bargersville, Lorelei (Tramell) Woods, Indianapolis, Brandi (Chris) Ward, Franklin, Larisa Stinson, Franklin, Hilary (Rick) Nowling, Franklin, Kristina Stinson, Franklin, Chelsey Osborne, Franklin, and Kayla Stinson, Franklin; 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CICOA (Johnson County Senior Services), 731 S. State St., Franklin, IN 46131.
