Shirley Willian Ferguson, 82, passed away November 19 in Indianapolis. He was born in Seymour, Indiana on February 3, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents; Joyce (Elller) and Otis P. Ferguson. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He married Loretta Amos in 1945 in Indianapolis and celebrated sixty-three years of marriage. They have four wonderful children; Earlene (Jim) Ayres, Allen (Vicki) Ferguson, Scott (Jeannie) Ferguson, and Theresa (Russ) Jones. He has twenty-three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren who loved their "Big Papaw". He retired from Booth Fisheries in 1988 after thirty years of loyal service. He was a member of St. Rochs Parish. His true passion in life was baseball especially Little League. He volunteered for forty-eight years, first as a coach, then President of the Southwest Rotary Little League for approximately fifteen years. He finished his remaining years in District Seven Little League. He served on the National Board Credential Committee in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for a two year term. During his years of service he brought to Indiana the Boys Senior League and Boys Big League Baseball. He was one of the pioneers in organizing Central Indiana Little League in Indianapolis. He has a Big League diamond field there named in his honor. When the field was named it made him the only live person to have a diamond named in his honor. In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the District Seven Little League.
