Shirley L. Phelps, 83, of Greenwood, passed away October 25, 2014. Born November 26, 1930 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary B. (Callis) Green.

She was a 1947 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School. Shirley worked as cafeteria manager at Isom Elementary School in Greenwood for forty years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of Greenwood Christian Church, Sisters in Christ, and the Widows Group; past president of the Greenwood Little League Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star Englewood Chapter, Life member of VFW Post # 5864 Auxiliary, and an honorary Life Member of Greenwood Fire Dept.

On August 6, 1948 she married George W. Phelps in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by sons, John W. (Debbie) Phelps, Robert D. (Sue) Phelps and Michael Phelps; daughter, Roberta L. (Michael) Arthur; two sisters, Ruth Falconbury and Roberta (Paul) Ingram; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Green; four sisters, Christine Neuert, Mary Kindle, Opal Curtis, and Phyllis Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South S.R. 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
