Shirley Jean Griner, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. She was 96 years old. Shirley was born in Indianapolis, IN, to her parents Albert and Bertha Bush.
Shirley held several jobs throughout her life to support her family. She sold cemetery plots for Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, she worked for Eli Lily in several capacities including as a clothing model, and finally, she worked in the jewelry department of SEARS Roebuck & Co. Shirley was a Baptist and found comfort in the lessons of Jesus and the Bible. She loved to work outdoors in her flower garden and front yard; she lovingly grew enormous roses for her family and neighborhood to enjoy. Shirley was very crafty and enjoyed sewing and completing arts and craft projects in her spare time. She loved to prepare food for her family and leaves behind several delicious recipes for her loved ones to enjoy. Shirley always had a very positive demeanor. She was generous with her time and her love. She will be forever cherished as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Shirley is survived by her children, Ron Ford, Darrell Ford, Sharron (Jim) Eubanks, Floyd Ford, Greg (Susan) Griner, and Kelly (Michael) Bauer; her 11 grandchildren; her 23 great grandchildren; her 16 great great grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn Doyle; her niece, Julie.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steve Ford; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Ford; her sister, Maxine Chapman.
A visitation for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests that donations be sent to St. Jude's Children's. The family also suggests planting a tree in her honor.
