Shirley D. Tatum, 90, of Indianapolis passed away April 16, 2017. She was born on December 31, 1926 to Clarence and Eva (Wilson) Fields.

Shirley was a member of the Eastern Star, NEA and Olive Branch Christian Church. She was a kind, caring and compassionate person who was proud to work as the Executive Assistant for the Indiana State Teacher''s Association. Shirley enjoyed crosswords, antiquing and was a sports fan who liked to watch the Pacers and the Colts. She will be dearly missed by all.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin D. Tatum; daughter, Stephanie Cassidy and brother, John Fields.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Garrett; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20 from 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm with an Easter Star service starting at 7:30 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 21 at 10:00 am, also in the funeral home.
