Simon Marroquin, age 85, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at his home with his family at his side. He was born October 18, 1926 in Mercedes, TX to Rosalio and Maria (Gonzalez) Marroquin. Simon was a U.S. Army veteran and was Supervisor of Maintenance at John Sexton Food Service. He married Mariana Ramirez on February 11, 1952 in McAllen, TX and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2004. Simon loved to garden, fish, watch Cincinnati Reds baseball and boxing.
He is survived by his sons, Carlos (Beatriz) Marroquin and Jose Marroquin, both of Indianapolis; daughters, Linda Marroquin of Fishers, Noelia and Maricelda Marroquin, of Indianapolis and Cynthia (Ralph) Pope, of Whiteland; sisters, Guadalupe (Jose) Santellana, of Indianapolis and Cleotilde Marroquin of Mercedes, TX; nineteen grandchildren, forty four great grandchildren and one soon to be born, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with visitation from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
