Mrs. Sonja Earlene Tuck, Indianapolis, passed away on the late morning of Wednesday, August 17, 2022. She was 83. Sonja was born in Velpen, Indiana, a daughter of the late Earl Resenbeck and Geneva (McLaughlin) Resenbeck York.
Sonja attended Emmerich Manual High School and had spent most of her working career as a legal secretary with the Cohen & Malad Law Firm and retired in 2000 after over 20 years of service.
Sonja looked forward to spending time at their home on Prince's Lake where she made many life-long memories with her family. She was an excellent cook and could always be counted on to prepare a delicious meal. She enjoyed reading and was a great partner at Euchre. She was always looking after and caring for others, often putting their needs ahead of her own. She was a collector of teapots. She deeply loved her family and they would tell you she was a feisty redhead in keeping with her Irish heritage.
Sonja is survived by her children, Vickie New, Jeff (Michelle) Tuck and Shawn (Adrianne) Tuck; her grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Katelyn, Delaney, Michael, Townes and Oliver; seven great-grandchildren and seven great-geat-grandchildren as well a her sister-in-law whom she loved as a sister, Betty Carroll.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Lawrence William Tuck in 1997.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Danny Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the services.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society.
