Stephen “Steve” Ira Pine, 83, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was born in 1942, to Ira Coleman and Esther Ruth Pine, and was raised on a dairy farm in Indiana. He graduated from Triton Central High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career with Indiana Bell, which later became AT&T. He began his career in telephone line repair and installation, and through hard work and education, advanced to computer technician services. After retiring from AT&T, Steve and some previous coworkers formed Teamcom, a tech services company.
In 1962, Steve married the love of his life, Carole. Together, they shared 64 loving years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. Faith was a central part of their marriage. They were members of Fairhaven Christian Church in Franklin, Indiana, where Steve served the church in various capacities. They had also been members of First Christian Church of Fort Myers in Florida. Steve went on numerous church-based mission trips both at home and abroad, traveling as far as Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
Steve loved riding motorcycles, boating and water activities, and most of all playing with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He loved all kinds of music. His favorites were Neil Diamond, Chicago, and gospel music–especially gospel quartets. “Sweet Caroline” held a special place in his heart, as he always sang it with his wife Carole in mind.
Steve will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Carole, and his daughters, Deborah, and Barbara (Richard). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jessica (Quinn), Melissa (Scott), Stephen (Candra), Christina, and Julia; his great-grandchildren: Hezekiah, Calum, Asher, Amy, Jackson, Gavin, and Natalie; his sister-in-law, Patricia; and several nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Thomas and Alan. His love for his family and the memories they created together will remain treasured in their hearts.
A visitation for Steve will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2 pm.
