Stephen Ray York, age 58, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born October 31, 1955 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Eugene Ray and Billie Charlene York.

Stephen was a graduate of John Marshall High School with the Class of 1974. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran and he attended IUPUI and graduated from ITT Tech. He was employed as a Bio-Medical technician. Stephen was a proud member and V.P. of the Indianapolis Academy of Model Aeronautics.

Stephen married the former Earlaine Smotherman on June 10, 2001 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and she survives him along with his father, Eugene; son, Stephen Ray York, Jr.; daughter, Jessica (Jeff) Eastman; brothers, Garry and Dan (Joy) York; grandchildren, Tavian, Lilly and Eli; a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Woodie Cumbie officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
