Sylvester J. "Bill" Bielanowski, 90, of Indianapolis passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his home. He was born August 28, 1920 to the late Sylvester and Elizabeth Bielanowski who immigrated to this country from Minsk Province, Poland. Bill served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Bielanowski married Elinor Florence Borders on February 16, 1958. Bill owned and managed Bill's Bar for over 35 years, retiring in 1990. He made his patrons feel welcome and enjoyed many long standing friendships with them. Playing golf and watching NASCAR races and professional football games were his favorite activities. After retiring, he and Elinor enjoyed their home at Lake Sweetwater in Nineveh, Indiana. Bill was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the American Legion. Bill was preceded in death by his siblings. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Elinor F. Bielanowski; son, Michael (Jenny) Bielanowski; daughter, Debra (Tom) Condon; three grandchildren, Lisa Kidd, Michael Bielanowski, Jeffrey Condon; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood with Rev. Steven C. Schwab officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon.
