Thomas Francis Powers Jr., Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026. He was 68 years old. Thomas was born in New Haven, CT, to his parents Thomas Francis Powers Sr. And Andrea (Smith) Powers. Thomas was raised alongside his siblings as a Catholic. He graduated from Richard C. Lee High School and attended some higher education. As a young man, Thomas enjoyed frequenting the VFW in Connecticut with his father to enjoy quality time together. Thomas married his wife, Nancy (Mancini) Powers, on February 16, 1980, and they shared 47 years of marriage together. Thomas answered the call of this nation by enlisting into the United States Navy and after his period of faithful service was honorably discharged.
Thomas worked a variety of jobs to help support his family; he was an insurance salesman for Primerica, a manager at Wendy’s, an Armored truck driver, and he worked for CHAMPS at Indianapolis International Airport. Thomas enjoyed coaching a variety of sports for his children and community. He was a dedicated football, basketball, softball, and soccer coach. Thomas was known to also enjoy watching sports on TV; he was always a fan of the New York teams, i.e.: the Mets, the Giants, and the Rangers. Thomas will be remembered for his joyful personality and wonderful sense of humor. His generosity and selflessness will leave a lasting legacy in his family and friends' lives. Thomas will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those he leaves behind.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Nancy Powers; his children, Thomas Francis Powers III, Brandon Scott (Michele) Powers, Chris Michael Powers, and Matthew Joseph (Jessica Dunbar) Powers; his grandchildren, Billy, Xavier, Kaylee, Peyton, and Ethan; his siblings, Jean (Kevin) Powers, Eileen Anne (Richard) Powers, Sean (Lisa) Powers, Timmy (Carol) Powers, Danielle (Mike) Novella, Lisa Powers, and Sheila (Scott) Wolcot; his several nieces and nephews.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; his parents in law, Thomas and Lorraine Mincini; his siblings, Maureen Mails, Colleen Raucci, and Richard Powers.
A visitation for Thomas will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home (1977 S SR 135, Greenwood, IN, 46143) on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
