Obituary

Vera Louise Sittler (née Westerman), of Greer, South Carolina, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted servant of Christ, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on April 7, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on September 2, 1934, in Warsaw, Indiana, Vera was the cherished daughter of Walter Charles Westerman and G. Pauline (Kaufman) Westerman. She was a woman of profound faith, purposeful prayer and unwavering love.

Vera graduated from Warsaw High School in 1952 and began her career as a secretary, bookkeeper and office manager, working for companies such as United Telephone Co., Arnold Corp., and Evangel Voice/Revival for Our Day. Her dedication to her work was surpassed only by her devotion to her family and her faith. She married Kenneth E. Wagner on June 8, 1952, and together they built a life centered on love, family and seeing the Kingdom of God come on Earth as it is in Heaven. After Kenneth's passing in 1985, Vera found love again and married Max L. Sittler on November 12, 1994, sharing many joyful years until his passing in 2011.

Vera's life was a testament to her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a dedicated and focused woman of prayer, a source of encouragement and a beacon of light to her family, friends and community. Her love for the Lord was evident in her daily life, put on display by how she loved whomever was in front of her. She believed in and was a testimony of the power of God's grace and sought to bring others closer to Him.

Vera was a member of the Covenant Church, Greer SC, attending there since 2012. She met and became wonderful friends with several loved ones there and formed a special bond with Don and Sharon Smith. She saw her position there as one of a prayer warrior, spending hours with the prayer team praying for different needs. She also served in a vital position of standing in the gap and praying for Pastor Darren Hook and his wife, Leeann.

Vera was a proud and loving mother to her children, Michael Wagner (Angela, deceased), Jim (Nancy) Sittler, Lorel (Andrew) Lloyd, Jaclyn Louise Wagner and Jonathan (Yvonne) Wagner. She was also a cherished "Nonna" to Christopher Lloyd, Spencer (Stacia) Lloyd, Conner (Katelyn) Lloyd, Kyleigh (Sebastian) Pyle, Carter (fiance, Lauren) Lloyd, Chris Sittler, Kenneth Wagner, Riley (Cecilia) Wagner and Jesse (Morgan, life partner) Wagner as well as a great-grandmother to nine precious great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Sarah (Lichtenwalter) Mann (Gary). She cherished every moment spent with everyone in her family.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pauline; her siblings Vivian Jean Miller, Walter Junior Westerman, June Ellen Bolton and Jeanie Wagner; her infant daughter, Jaclyn as well as her husbands, Kenneth E. Wagner and Max L. Sittler. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and devotion to Jesus that will continue to inspire her family and all who knew her.

A Celebration of Vera's life will be held at Parker City Christ Fellowship, 12201 W. County Road 150 N., Parker City, Indiana, Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Pastors Spencer Lloyd, Gary Mann and Jerry Keller officiating. A second memorial service will be held at Covenant Church in Greer, SC with the date to be announced. Vera will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana, alongside her beloved Max.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of service Wednesday at the church.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution in Vera's memory, the family has suggested those be offered to Found Ministries (formerly Revival for Our Day), Global Emancipation Network or Compassion International reflecting her lifelong commitment to serving others and spreading the love of Christ.

Vera's family would like to thank all who have supported them during this time of loss. They take comfort in knowing that Vera is now rejoicing in the presence of her Savior, reunited with her loved ones and experiencing the eternal joy of Heaven.
