Obituary

Verna Lee Kempf, Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026. She passed at the age of 95. Verna was born in Jasper, IN, to her parents, Urban W. Dick and Mary Ann Dick. She attended Jasper High School. Verna married her husband, Anthony Leo Kempf, on August 4, 1951, and they shared 68 years of marriage together until Anthony passed away in 2019.

Verna served her family, dutifully, as a homemaker. She took pride in her and her family’s appearance; she enjoyed appearing very poised and put together. Verna was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church with her husband for many years. Verna enjoyed using her creative eye to design room decor and arrange flowers in her free time. She was also very passionate about maintaining her lawn and home. Verna and Anthony had several wonderful global trips during her life; some of her favorite places she visited were Germany and China. Verna will be remembered for her family-oriented nature and loving heart. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those she leaves behind.

Verna is survived by her children, Vera Wilkins and Valerie Roach; her grandchild, Dr. Aaron (Julie Denny) Wilkins; her great grandchildren, Tenley Wilkins, Urban Wilkins, Logan Arnold, and Braden Arnold; her brother, Gene Dick.

Verna is preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Ethan Wilkins; her brother, Norb Dick.

Verna will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 10:00 am.
