Obituary

Victoria Gibbons Thompson, age 79, went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 5th after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born in Virginia on March 24th, 1945, to Bishop and Elsie Gibbons. She grew up in eastern Kentucky with her 3 sisters (Fran, Loretta, Mary) and brother Doug. She graduated from Bell County High School in Kentucky and attended the University of Indianapolis. She married Chester Thompson on August 3rd, 1963, and was a loving mother to Jeff and Kim.

She loved the Lord and her family deeply. She was a friendly, generous, sweet loving soul that wore a smile that would light up a room. She adored her church family and friends at Cherokee Heights in Morristown Tennessee. She was enthusiastic about volunteering at Celebrate Recovery at Manual Church in Tennessee. She enjoyed a lengthy career in the dental field, retiring after many years serving as an office manager for Dr. Gary Taylor in Greenwood Indiana. She touched many lives through those she served and served alongside.

She loved to travel. Her favorite destinations were Florida, Maui, and Spain.
Survivors include her husband Chet Thompson, son Jeff Thompson, daughter Kim (Brian) Gardner, grandsons Spencer, Gavin, and Aidan.

She would be the first to tell you she could not carry a tune in a bucket but that never stopped her from belting out a joyful noise to the Lord whenever she felt like singing. She will be forever remembered for her Mamawisms or her sayings for example; if you said, "I can't" she would say, "Can't never did try", if you said "wait" she would say, "weight is what broke the Camel's back", if you mentioned the humidity she would say "its hotter than a firecracker outside". She was an original, loved by everyone who met her and there will never be another one like her. She will be greatly missed, and we look forward to meeting again in heaven.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Friday August 16th at 12:00pm at Mount Pleasant Christian Church in the Student Ministry Center 407 N Bluff Road, Greenwood IN 46142. Entrance is on the south side of the building.
