Viola B. Gatton, age 88 of Indianapolis, died June 21, 2009 at St Francis Hospital, Beech Grove. Viola was born March 7, 1921 in Elkin, NC to George and Florence (Billings) Brown. She was married to Milton Harrison "John" Gatton who died 8/18/1994. Viola retired in 1979 from Mechanics Laundry as a seamstress after 25 years of service. Survivors include sons, John Gatton of Nineveh, Danny Gatton and James Gatton of Indianapolis, R.D. Gatton of Harmony, N.C. and daughter Edith Gatton Girard of Florence, SC. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Pete Gatton. Private services will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood.
