Virginia "Ginger" Ann Chasteen, Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023. She was 81 years old.Ginger was born in Greenwood, IN to her parents Harry and Katherine Martin. She graduated from Greenwood High School, class of 1960 and attended Franklin College, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in english. Ginger went on to earn her master's degree from Butler University in english.  Ginger married her husband Robert Chasteen in 1964 and they shared 55 years of marriage together until Robert passed away in 2019.
Ginger worked as a teacher's aid for Center Grove High School and retired after many years of service. Ginger was a member of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church for many years before moving to St. Francis and Claire Catholic Church. Ginger enjoyed staying active with Center Grove marching band and attending her monthly bridge club meetings. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Ginger is survived by her children, Ann Chasteen and Patrick (Summer) Chasteen; her grandchildren, Makenzie Massengale and Winter Gillispie; her sister, Mary K. Green; her nieces, Bridget (John) Reynolds and Nelson Green.
Ginger is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert.
A visitation for Ginger will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S SR 135, Greenwood, IN, 46143. from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at a later date.
