Virginia C. Lawson, 81, of Martinsville passed away August 21, 2016. She was born July 6, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to Addis E. and Dolores V. Coleman.

Virginia enjoyed bird watching, flower and vegetable gardening and raising chickens. She would also can vegetables and make jelly from her garden produce. Virginia was a great storyteller and enjoyed talking to people and loved her grandkids dearly.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra White; brother, Larry Coleman and sister, Elizabeth Terhune.

Virginia is survived by her son, Michael (Laura) Whitaker; daughters, Nancy (George) Lane III and Marcia Wilson; sister, Mary (Don) Voyles; grandchildren, Melissa (Ross) Vinelli, Michelle (Benjamin) Silliman, George (Audery) Lane IV, Rebecca (Darren) Manning, Brian Whitaker, Cory (Lucy) White, Rachel (Shawn) Knight, Joseph Wilson and Joshua Wilson (Carissa Chew); 22 great grandchildren and her lifelong best friend, Catherine "Rena" Bodenreider.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26 from 4 pm - 8 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Danny Thomas officiating.
