Wallace R. "Red" Gentry, 73, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away in his sleep at home Sunday morning April 25, 2010. He was born December 16, 1936 in Indianapolis. He married Roseann (Porter) Gentry on November 30, 1958 in Franklin. He attended Trafalgar High School and graduated from Southport High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was an active member of Northern Park Baptist Church in Greenwood where he served as an usher. He worked in construction and was employed by the F.E. Gates Company, Cornerstone Industries, and Grand Rental Station in Greenwood. He enjoyed serving at the church, mowing the church lawn, knife collecting, bluegrass music, mule pulls, and exploring God''s beautiful creation. Survivors include his wife Roseann, three sons, J.D. Gentry of Greenwood, Jerry Gentry and his wife Kathy (Tremble) Gentry of Seymour, and Lance Gentry and his wife Leigh Ann (Gillies) Gentry of Colorado Springs, CO and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Fount and Ruth (Barrick) Gentry, his sisters Alberta Rahke Helen Piccione, and Hilda Johnson, his brothers Paul and Cecil Gentry and his daughter-in-law Mischelle (Blackwell) Gentry. A service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood on Thursday at 10 a.m. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
