Walter Eugene Wilson, 86, of Greencastle, Indiana, went to his heavenly home on August 28, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 9,
1936 to Jessie and Margaret Wilson in Jennings County, Indiana. He married Helen Marie Fortner on January 10, 1959. She preceded him in death in 2005.

Walter leaves behind to cherish his memory two children Brenda (Len) Reed and Michael Wilson; two grandchildren Amanda Dorsett and Justin (Brittany) Reed; seven great grandchildren: Ty, Zachary, Trey, and Caitlyn Dorsett; Sawyer, Molly, and Wyatt Reed; a brother James Wilson and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife Helen; a son Mark Wilson (2016) and a brother Thomas Wilson.

He loved his family and his dog Bullit. As a young man, Walter worked on a farm and participated in many rodeos with his favorite horse Ginger. Walter worked and retired early from FMC Link Belt/Rexnord where his dad and his brother also worked and retired.  He also retired from Walmart at 80 years old after serving 20 years. He loved seeing and getting to know people. His hobbies included fishing and hunting and he also loved to watch westerns. His favorite cowboys were Gene Autrey and John Wayne. In 2009, he and his brother Jim took a vacation together out west to see the Gene Autrey Museum.

A visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Funeral service will begin at Noon. Walter will be laid to rest next to his wife Helen at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
