Obituary

Willard "Buck" Saylor, 81, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away into eternal life on May 28, 2023, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his loving family under the care of Franciscan Health Hospital.  Buck was born August 28, 1941 in Saylor, KY to Grant Saylor and Laura Helton Saylor.  After graduating from Red Bird High School, KY in 1960, Buck moved to Indianapolis, IN where he met his soul mate and lovely wife Monetta Griffith. They wed September 30 ,1962 in Indianapolis, IN where they raised three children and shared 60 years of marriage.

Buck was a man of many talents and skills and a master supervisor of any task. He loved his grassroots in Kentucky and was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.  He was a Christian mentor to many.  Buck retired from his career at General Motors on March 1, 1993.  He witnessed and participated in the development of many new systems during those years at GM and nurtured many lasting friendships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant Saylor and Laura Helton Key; parent-in laws Earl and Effie Griffith; and his siblings Ocie Boch, Bonnie Kegler, and Jerry Saylor.  He leaves behind an untouchable legacy and many friends and family who will miss him deeply including his daughter, Rebecca Sue Boor (Tony), his sons JR Willard Saylor (Yasmin) and Jimmy Dale Saylor (Lori), along with his loving wife Monetta Saylor; five grandchildren Joshua, Alexandra, Kirstin, Paige, and Jacob; siblings Wilburn, Theo, Jake, Francis, Larry, Gary and Crystal; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.  They all brought him great joy.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, IN on May 31, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and services at 7:00 pm.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at Forestlawncemetery-fh.com/obits.
