Obituary

Mr. William Carl "Bill" Hineman, Pharr, Texas, passed away on the early morning of February 9, 2021, in Rio Grande City, Texas. He was 78. Bill was born November 1, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio a son of the late William Carl and Norma Jean (Corcoran) Hineman.

After graduating high school, Bill earned his Bachelor's degree in Radio and Television and had worked for various stations, including Channel 13 in Indianapolis and NPR in Washington DC, over the years. He had worked as a DJ at WLAV in Grand Rapids, Michigan under the name Bill Edwards. Bill was instrumental in getting the Society of Broadcast Engineers National office set up and established in Indianapolis. He enjoyed collecting radio and TV paraphernalia, was a Ham Radio operator, and traveling.

Bill is survived by his daughter-in-law, Michelle Hineman; his sister, Kathy (Bart) Hogarth; sister-in-law, Beverly (Dick) Green; stepchildren, Carole (Fred) Palazzo, Laura (Larry) Creemer and Julie (Joe) Gutzwiller; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wives, Susan Hineman, Elberta Hineman and Pat Hineman and his son, William R. Hineman.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Friday March 5, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

There will be no public funeral services.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested making a contribution to your favorite rescue or charity. Bill and Elberta had adopted poodles from a rescue but were also very involved with their local food bank.

The safety of our families and guests is our utmost priority. In keeping with the Governor's mandate, attendance will be limited to 25 people. We also ask that facial coverings be worn and social distancing be practiced. We respectfully ask if you are feeling any symptoms of illness, please do not attend. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
